The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) is an independent European body that facilitates the uniform application of data protection regulations within the European Union and fosters collaboration among EU data protection authorities. The EDPB is comprised of national data protection authorities.
The EDPB is composed of representatives from national data protection authorities and the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS). Additionally, surveillance authorities from EFTA and EEA countries are non-voting members in matters related to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). They do not have the right to vote or be elected as chairpersons or vice-chairpersons. The EDPB was established under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and is located in Brussels. The European Commission and, concerning GDPR-related issues, the EFTA Surveillance Authority have the right to participate in the Board's work and meetings as non-voting members.
